New to Essential Oils? Here are some of my favs!

It is said that there are over 90 essential oils that have thus far been discovered.  Here are my personal favorites that I’d recommend to anyone who is just “getting their feet wet”:    

PEPPERMINT: When I am feeling sluggish and need a pick me up jolt (hello Monday mornings!), I rub a little under my nose or put some in my diffuser to light up the room. When my son experiences a seasonal allergy flare up, before bed I rub peppermint (mixed with carrier oil) on my son's feet, back, chest and front of his neck and he is able to have a restful nights sleep.  And peppermint oil is great bug repellant. I put some in a spray bottle with water with lemon and eucalyptus essential oil and spray it on to ward off mosquitoes.  

CEDARWOOD: My go to in a diffuser for a calming effect. Its light woody scent encourages me to stop, inhale and redirect my energy towards calm and patience.  

ROSEMARY: Along with its refreshing scent, I put a drop of rosemary in Baobab oil for a daily face moisturizer that also tones. At times I substitute Rosemary for Orange oil for a brightening effect.  

LAVENDER: Most folks know this oil for its calming effect but did you know it's great to treat burns. I cannot count the number of times I've touched a pan that I forgot just came out of the oven! When that happens (more than I care to admit), I put a few drops on my burned fingers and within 5 minutes I'm ready to play the piano. Okay, I don't really play the piano but you get the point. Of course, there are many others that I love and use often but, if you are new to essential oils, I recommend one of these four to start.
